Like a lot of you, I love watching Netflix. What’s easier than binging your favourite shows/films from the comfort of your own bed?!
Netflix has an incredible range of T.V shows and films on offer for people of all ages. One of the things I love most about Netflix, is that it uploads a whole season of a T.V show rather than one episode a week! This is amazing, but also dangerous because then we all end up binging because we have to see what happens next.
So, in this post, I thought I would share with you my favourite T.V shows to binge, and one of my favourite films on offer. Hope you like this!
Shameless (US version)
Shameless is currently half way through its 7th season. I watched one episode of this about 3 years ago on T.V and didn’t watch anymore. Then, about a month ago, I found it on Netflix and thought I would check it out. Well, cut to now, and I’ve nearly finished the 6th season. It is addictive. I highly recommend it.
It’s about an alcoholic father, with 6 children, who takes no responsibility for his family and is only interested in his next fix.
House of Cards
My brother first told me about House of Cards, and I wasn’t sure i’d like it. I thought it would all be about politics, and nothing else, and thats really not my kind of thing. Then I watched it. I was wrong. It is one of the best Television shows out today. Kevin Spacey is gold in this. The fourth season came out last year, with the fifth season supposed to be released by summer this year. It is highly addictive, so if you start watching it prepare yourself to binge.
House of cards is about Frank Underwood, and his wife Claire, and his need to be in control and have all the power. He doesn’t care what he has to do to get it.
Orange Is the New Black
When this was first released I didn’t know how i felt about it, but, as the first season went on, I realised it was pretty amazing. The shows delves into race, mental illness, sexual orientation, family, and sexual assault. This is something I love the most about this show; they weren’t afraid to talk about the topics other shows are afraid to.
The show starts with Piper Chapman, the main character, the day before she is going to be incarcerated for an offence she committed 11 years ago (potentially 9 years ago, sorry I can’t remember exactly). The show released it’s fourth season last year, and is sent to release it’s fifth season on June 9th this year.
Gilmore Girls was first released in 2000, and the seventh season, and last, was released in 2006. They have since come out with a four episode special, titled “A year in the life” in December of 2016 (I haven’t watched the special yet). I had seen Gilmore Girls on T.V occasionally, but had never seen it from Episode 1 to the end. Now I have thanks to Netflix.
I binged through this quickly. There such relatable, and loving characters you can’t help but become invested, and want to see what happens.
Derek is without a doubt one of the best T.V shows available on Netflix. When I first heard of it, I didn’t know what/how I would feel about it. After the first episode, I was hooked. It is one of the most beautiful T.V shows ever made. Derek is Kind, that’s what the show is all about; he will anything for anyone.
He works in a rest home for the elderly with his best friend Hannah (the manager), and his friends Dougie (caretaker/fix it man), and his alcoholic friend Kev. It’s a beautiful story about Kindness “Kindness is magic”. The show has three seasons, all available on Netflix.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favourite films of all time. It was released in 2012, and quickly became a classic. We start of with Charlie, writing in his diary, on his first day of High School- we find out he spent time in the hospital and is trying his best after a difficult year.
The music, the characters, the story; everything is so heartbreaking but beautiful at the same time. The ending always brings tears to my eyes. The music of David Bowie, the words, everything about it is perfect. I 100% recommend.
Hope you liked this!
